HYUNDAI WIA held an in-house e-sports tournament to strengthen unity among employees.

On September 10th, HYUNDAI WIA held an e-sports tournament at the HYUNDAI WIA Uiwang R&D Center auditorium in Uiwang-si, Gyeongi-do. This was the second annual ‘One Team Spirit Festival,’ an in-house event where employees enjoy various cultural activities, such as table tennis, GO, e-sports, music concerts to interact with one another.

The event featured an impressive lineup of eight games, including League of Legends, StarCraft, Remaster, Kart Rider, Rush Plus, and Tekken 8. After preliminary rounds with 150 employees, 28 players advanced to the finals. HYUNDAI WIA invited renowned game caster Sanghyun Park, professional gamer Donghoon Kim, and casters Jinyoung Park and Donghoon Choi to engage around 500 on-site attendees. The entire event was also live-streamed on YouTube, attracting an additional 300 employees who cheered their colleagues.

The winners of the best-of-three finals for League of Legends, StarCraft: Remaster and Kart Rider Rush Plus were Automotive Parts Research Center, Quality Control Sub-Division, and Machine Tools Sub-Division, respectively. For individual games for Tekken 8, Bojung Baek, senior manager of the Automotive Parts Production Management Team, won the victory. “Our teamwork got stronger as we prepared for the finals. The word ‘unity’ may sound abstract, but I believe these small moments of sharing joys are what truly build it” said Yire Jeong, researcher of Driveline System Design Team #2 and a winner of the League of Legends tournament.

In addition to the e-sports tournament, HNDAI WIA plans to continuously hold various ‘One Team Spirit Festival’ events to foster cohesive work environment. HYUNDAI WIA held a classical concert in May and will run a traditional Korean snack-making event from the 9th to the 12th.
