HYUNDAI WIA held an environmental protection campaign with local children.
On October 14th, HYUNDAI WIA announced the company held a successful environmental protection campaign, "Green the Planet," at Yongji Lake Park Lawn Square in Changwon-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, on October 12th. This initiative aimed to raise awareness about the climate crisis and was co-hosted with Save the Children, with support from Changwon-si. The campaign welcomed local residents to participate without prior registration, fostering community involvement.
The event featured a variety of engaging programs designed for children and families to learn about the climate crisis and explore practical actions to counter climate change. Eight mission activities were conducted, including ▲ an environmental quiz maze, ▲ upcycling art projects using trash, ▲ educational sessions on children's rights and the climate crisis, ▲ a marten protection campaign, and▲ globe face painting. A highlight was the involvement of HYUNDAI WIA’s mascot, 'Dodam,' based on the endangered marten, which helped to convey the importance of biodiversity conservation in an accessible and enjoyable manner.
In addition to the educational programs, the company organized a plogging volunteer initiative, encouraging participants to pick up litter while walking or running around Yongji Lake Park. The company also crafted 100 eco-friendly "Eco Plant Walls" using Scandiamoss, a plant known for its air-purifying properties. These plant walls were donated to a local child welfare facility in Changwon-si, furthering the campaign's impact.
HYUNDAI WIA is committed to enhancing its environmental initiatives within the local community. “This campaign provided an opportunity for children and citizens to join together in addressing the climate crisis, emphasizing the importance of environmental protection for future generations”, “We will strive to create a sustainable community through various ESG activities” said an official from HYUNADAI WIA.
