HYUNDAI WIA acquired A+ ESG rating for two consecutive years from the Korea Institute of Corporate Governance and Sustainability (KCGS).

On October 29th, HYUNDAI WIA announced that it has achieved an A+ rating in the '2024 ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) Integrated Rating of Listed Companies,' as reported by the KCGS. The company secured this integrated A+ rating by receiving an A+ score in both environmental and social responsibility, along with an A in governance. Notably, HYUNDAI is the only company among South Korean automobile parts manufacturers to attain an A+ integrated rating for two consecutive years.

KCGS is a recognized ESG rating organization that conducts evaluations, analyses, and research to set key standards for developing and enhancing the capitalist market. An ESG assessment evaluates a company’s impact on environmental, social, and governance factors. This year, 1,066 domestic companies were evaluated.

HYUNDAI WIA received high rating for establishing specific policies and goals related to ESG management. HYUNDAI WIA made revisions on 11 policies related to ESG management and information protection. In addition, the company created an ESG Planning Team and quantified mid-and-long term goals, including climate change management, safety and health, and social contribution. HYUNDAI WIA also transparently disclosed the financial impacts on climate change management and its detailed response strategies.

HYUNDAI WIA has received high scores in the environmental sector for its effective measures in leading environmental protection activities aimed at reducing greenhouse gas and air pollutant emissions. Notably, HYUNDAI WIA has achieved a 17.8% reduction in greenhouse gas emission intensity compared to 2022. Additionally, the company's sulfur oxide emissions decreased from 0.45 tons to 0.053 tons during the same period. HYUNDAI WIA also plans to increase its use of renewable energy to 60% by 2030 and to 90% by 2040, with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2045.

In the social sector, HYUNDAI WIA earned an A+ rating, reflecting its expansion of social contribution activities and its commitment to building partnerships for mutual growth. The company has been particularly praised for its dedication to social contribution programs, such as the ‘Dream Car’ and ‘Green School’ initiatives, which have been running for over five years. Since 2013, HYUNDAI WIA has donated a total of 170 vehicles through the ‘Dream Car’ program and has established seven schools under the ‘Green School’ initiative since 2019.

HYUNDAI WIA is committed to mutual growth alongside its partners. The company not only supports their overseas sales efforts but also funds consulting costs and assists in obtaining 'Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Certification' from the Korea Customs Service. This certification simplifies the import and export process. Since last year, six partners have been supported by HYUNDAI WIA in their pursuit of AEO certification.Additionally, Hyundai Motor Group's Global Partnership Center (GPC) offers free training for suppliers to enhance their competitiveness.
