HYUNDAI WIA entered the robot market by participating in the nation’s largest robot exhibition.

On September 10th, HYUNDAI WIA presented to reveal products such as autonomous parking robots and logistics robots at ‘2023 Robo World’ held in KINTEX, Goyang-si, Geonggi-do. Robo World is the nation's largest robot industry exhibition held in South Korea from October 11th to 14th. HYUNDAI WIA booth takes 273㎡ area, which is the largest size among the participating companies. It is the first time for HYUNDAI WIA to join a robot exhibition.

HYUNDAI WIA revealed the nation’s first ‘autonomous parking robot’ in this exhibition. It is a flat and extensive robot that automatically moves underbody and parks in an empty space. HYUNDIA WIA installed radar sensors to precisely measure the tire size and wheelbase distance to adjust the operation position. It can also operate in every direction, which optimizes the parking space.

HYUNDAI WIA also presented an ‘autonomous mobile robot (AMR)’. HYUNDAI WIA focused on applying autonomous driving technology to AMR. With a radar sensor, it can map the manufacturing plant in real-time and operate autonomously. AMR independently generated an optical path by classifying danger zones. Furthermore, it will automatically avoid any unexpected obstacles encountered on the route.

In the exhibition, HYUNDAI WIA opened a ‘smart manufacturing & logistics solution zone’ to simulate how AMR and Collaborative Robot work in an actual manufacturing site. Visitors can witness the entire process of unloading, processing, inspecting, and loading parts back to storage with one 1-ton AMR, three 300-kg AMRs, and three collaborative robots. HYUNDAI WIA developed ‘AMR control system (ACS)’ to control the AMR and collaborative robot in the best route.

HYUNDAI WIA devoted efforts to apply this not just to HYUNDAI WIA robots but also to various types of logistics robots and conditions flexibly”, said an official from HYUNDAI WIA.
