HYUNDAI WIA launches ‘digital platform’ using virtual reality technology

2021-12-29

HYUNDAI WIA has launched a ‘digital platform’ for customers interested in auto parts and machine tools.

On December 28, HYUNDAI WIA launched a digital platform that enables customers to browse, explore, learn more about auto parts and machine tools with virtual reality (VR) technology. Since non-face-to-face product marketing cases surge in the post-pandemic Business to Business(B2B) marketplace, HYUNDAI WIA launched the virtual showroom. HYUNDAI WIA is the first auto parts manufacturer to open a digital exhibition platform in South Korea.

The virtual showroom adapted VR technology to offer the full gamut of the user-centric showroom experience. When users enter the platform, an actual staff member of HYUNDAI WIA appears as a virtual guide to inform users on how to make the most of the showroom. Clicking on the dedicated sites for eco-friendly auto parts, engine, module, and driveline products on the mini-map, a researcher in charge of the product development gives product details. Instead of simply checking the product specifications and images on the homepage, users can now explore every product feature.

HYUNDAI WIA also organized a ‘seminar room’. With a perfect blend of Metaverse functions, sales representatives can appoint a meeting with customers who visited the page. Taking prolonged COVID-19 circumstances, HYUNDAI WIA plans to win international contracts based on this virtual showroom. Hence, product descriptions and visual content were all in English for the global carmakers.

HYUNDAI WIA also launched a virtual showroom for customers interested in machine tools. Machine tools digital platform used VR technology that gives customers offline exhibition experience right from their device. As soon as customers enter the virtual showroom, 24 representative machine tools models are displayed. Pressing the arrows within the display, customers can take a closer look at the smart factory, 5-axis M/C, CNC turning center, machining center. Customers can watch product description videos and learn about the maximum size of the processible product, processed sample, and demonstration video in the virtual showroom.

A crucial aspect of the new digital platform is that customers can see the actual processing procedure of eco-friendly auto parts using HYUNDAI WIA’s machine tools. When users press the center of the virtual showroom, selected machine tools and the required time to produce core auto parts such as ‘Motor Housing’, ‘Battery Case’, and ‘Axel Hub’ are shown.

HYUNDAI WIA plans to conveniently bridge the gap between the company and customers around the globe. “Online sales business has taken on greater importance after a pandemic outbreak. Despite the challenges we face in meeting our customers in person, we will actively take different approaches to strengthen the company’s sales force”, said an official of HYUNDAI WIA.
