HYUNDAI WIA hosted a farmers market in collaboration with local farmers ahead of Chuseok.

On September 17, HYUNDAI WIA announced that it had hosted the “Yi-Eum Farmers Market” at its Plant 3 in Changwon-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, on September 16. “Yi-Eum Farmers Market” is one of  HYUNDAI WIA’s major social contribution initiatives, connecting local farms and consumers. Since 2024, HYUNDAI WIA has held “Yi-Eum Farmers Market” using Agricultural and Fishing Villages Collaborate Cooperation Fund to promote outstanding local agricultural products and expand sales channels. On the day of the event, 18 locals participated in the “Yi-Eum Farmers Market”.

HYUNDAI WIA focused on the most in-demand agricultural products ahead of Chuseok for the “Yi-Eum Farmers Market”. Local farmers showcased fresh produce such as rice, mixed grains, sweet potatoes, sweet persimmons, shine muscat grapes, melons, and Korean kiwi along with a variety of processed local agricultural products including sesame oil, gimbugak (crispy fried seaweed), Changwon manggae-eeock (rice cakes wrapped in manggae leaves), and wild-ginseng makgeolli. Participated farmers were selected by the Changwon Agricultural Technology Center, taking into consideration factors such as their regional representatives and product quality and safety.

HYUNDAI WIA also organized hands-on programs to encourage the participation of employees and their family members. These programs include a fragrance-making class using locally grown herbs and bazaar featuring handmade items created by children at the in-house daycare center. To encourage purchases at the farmers market, the company also organized lucky draw event for visitors who bought agricultural products.

HYUNDAI WIA also operates the “Yi-Eum Farmers Market on Wheels” to expand participation opportunities for employees at its worksites outside Changwon. A truck loaded with agricultural products travels to individual worksites for a one-day market. The “Yi-Eum Farmers Market on Wheels” will be held at HYUNDAI WIA’s Seosan and Pyeongtaek plants on the 17th, and at its Uiwang R&D Center on the 18th. HYUNDAI WIA plans to allow visitors to browse products from individual farms in person, place orders via mobile phone, and have the products delivered fresh.

HYUNDAI WIA will also support vulnerable groups in the local community through agricultural product assistance. The company plans to purchase agricultural products from farms participating in the Yi-Eum Farmers Market and deliver them to local social welfare facilities, including free meal centers. Participating farms will also voluntarily donate a portion of their profits, further reinforcing the meaning of co-prosperity.

HYUNDAI WIA plans to continue activities to grow together with the local farms. “I hope Yi-Eum Farmers Market will provide a stable sales channel for local farms while becoming a place where employees can share and enjoy trustworthy, seasonal food. We will continue to plan and engage in meaningful social contribution activities that grow alongside the local community,” said an official from HYUNDAI WIA.
