HYUNDAI WIA is stepping up its efforts to expand its presence in the European automotive market with its thermal management systems and next-generation drivetrain technologies.
On October 28, HYUNDAI WIA announced that it had showcased a broad range of electrified vehicle components at IZB 2026, the International Supplier Fair, which opened on October 27 (local time) at Allerpark Wolfsburg, Germany. Running through the 29th, IZB is a major automotive supplier exhibition hosted by Volkswagen. This year, 858 companies from 36 countries are participating.
At this exhibition, HYUNDAI WIA focused on showcasing its advanced technologies in drivetrain and thermal management for future mobility. In particular, the company highlighted components designed to improve energy efficiency and space utilization. These technologies address the EU’s continued push toward electrification, including a revised proposal to reduce vehicle-caused CO2 emissions by 90% by 2035, compared with 2021 levels.

HYUNDAI WIA showcased an HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) unit, a key component of a vehicle’s climate control system. HVAC conditions air to maintain the optimal temperature inside the vehicle. HYUNDAI WIA also presented its Slim HVAC, which features a lower profile than conventional systems to improve space utilization and energy efficiency.
HYUNDAI WIA exhibited a cooling module as well, a key component of vehicle thermal management. Comprising a condenser, radiator and cooling fan, the module cools air and coolant at the front of the vehicle. HYUNDAI WIA integrated two radiators, previously installed separately, into a single unit, reducing the module’s thickness and weight while enabling it to cool the battery and power electronics (PE) system simultaneously.
HYUNDAI WIA also unveiled its Wheel Disconnect System (WDS), a next-generation drivetrain component for electrified vehicles. The WDS disconnects the drive shaft from the wheels when needed, helping reduce unnecessary power loss.
In addition, HYUNDAI WIA showcased Active Roll Stabilization (ARS), which helps mitigate the road impacts and reduce body roll when cornering, as well as a Dual C.V. Joint., which connects two constant-velocity joints in series to achieve an articulation angle of up to 60 degrees. The Dual C.V. Joint reduces a vehicle’s turning radius, making it easier to maneuver in tight spaces, such as when making a U-turn or navigating narrow alleys.
Through its participation in IZB 2026, HYUNDAI WIA aims to strengthen its relationships with European automakers, including Volkswagen, and expand its business opportunities in the region. “Through this exhibition, we were able to showcase HYUNDAI WIA’s advanced technologies in future powertrains and thermal management to the European market. We will continue to expand our pipeline in Europe through sustained R&D and proactive sales efforts,” said an official from HYUNDAI WIA.
