HYUNDAI WIA publishes ‘2025 Sustainability Report’

HYUNDAI WIA has published the 2025 edition of its Sustainability Report, highlighting the company’s sustainable management activities and future goals.

On June 27th, HYUNDAI WIA announced the publication of the ‘2025 HYUNDAI WIA Sustainability Report’, aiming to transparently share its ESG(Environment, Social, Governance) goal and performance with all stakeholders. In the report, HYUNDAI WIA reaffirmed its commitment to ESG management. The company also unveiled ‘ESG Governance Organization Chart’, demonstrating the active involvement of top management and the board of directors. In the report, HYUNDAI WIA disclosed three major issues selected through ‘Double Materiality Assessment’. Specifically, these issues are ▲Climate change response & Greenhouse gas reduction ▲Workplace safety and health ▲Sustainable supply chain management. HYUNDAI WIA selected these priorities through a Double Materiality Assessment, which comprehensively analyzes both the company’s impact on the economy, environment, and society, and the external impact of these factors on the company. HYUNDAI WIA aims to become a more sustainable company by managing the priorities and disclosing its progress and performance.

HYUNDAI announced plans to disclose detailed information on its RE100 implementation rate and roadmap, as part of its efforts in Climate change response & GHG reductions. RE100 is a global initiative in which companies commit to using 100% renewable energy, such as solar and wind power. HYUNDAI WIA has set a goal to achieve RE100 by 2045 as part of its carbon neutrality roadmap. As part of its energy transition strategy, the company plans to increase the share of renewable energy in its total energy use to 7.2% by the end of 20205, 62.1% by 2030, and 92.1% by 2040.

In fact, HYUNDAI WIA has been significantly reducing its GHG emission and energy consumption year over year. The company’s total GHG emissions across domestic and overseas operations decreased from 307,352 tCO₂eq in 2022 to 240,712 tCO₂eq in 2023. Its energy consumption also dropped from 4,347 TJ to 3,240 TJ during the same period. Furthermore, HYUNDAI IA is expanding its efforts to transition to renewable energy. In 2023, the company’s India subsidiary increased its renewable energy conversion rate to 44%, while its Jiangsu subsidiary in China raised it to 43%.

HYUNDAI WIA also presented a structured safety and health management plan in its Sustainability Report. Under the vision of ‘A Collaboration for a Happier Future’, the company aims to achieve ▲ Accident-free operations ▲strong safety culture ▲ Zero severe accidents. To achieve these goal, HYUNDAI WIA conducted 4,560 risk assessments in 2024 and implemented corresponding improvement measures. In addition, the company operates a ‘Safety Reporting Channel’ to encourage employees to proactively report potential hazards. To strengthen safety across the entire supply chain, the company also opened ‘Safety Experience Lab, S+’ and provided training for 172 partner companies.

HYUNDAI WIA announced that the company will take a more active role in building a sustainable supply chain. To this end, the company aims to support all the partner companies in actively implementing ESG management. In 2024, HYUNDAI WIA conducted ESG assessment on 164 partner companies and provided improvement support to those classified as high-risk. The company is also strengthening cooperation with its partners through joint R&D, including the localization of parts and collaborative patent applications aimed at enhancing technological competitiveness.

HYUNDAI WIA also announced its commitment to publishing the Sustainability Report annually, providing updates on its ESG performance and management activities to all stakeholders.

“HYUNDAI WIA’s commitment to ESG management is clearly reflected in the Sustainability Report. We will continue working with all stakeholders, including partners, customers, and stakeholders, to build a more sustainable company,” said an official from HYUNDAI WIA.
